VRS Hackathon 2024
Generative AI × XR
VR Innovation Lab: Bridging the Future of Immersive VR and Human Sciences
VR projects are collaborative endeavors, requiring the synergy of diverse talents. Experts from neuroscience, psychology, clinical practice, education, and VR development must work together, exchanging knowledge to create groundbreaking VR applications.
The hackathon is part of the VR Summit, and the primary challenge we aim to address is the integration of VR technology within neuroscientific, psychological, clinical, and educational contexts. Successfully leveraging VR for these purposes requires a deep understanding of both the specific application areas and the technical expertise necessary for VR development.
The challenge is to harness cutting-edge VR technology, combined with advanced generative AI and brain-computer interfaces. Teams will develop applications that not only integrate these technologies but also demonstrate their workings within a VR environment. To foster this interdisciplinary collaboration, our hackathon will bring together participants from these diverse fields. Teams will be composed of members with complementary expertise to ensure effective communication and innovative solutions.
Challenge 1: Development of an Innovative Tool
- Objective: Create an application that creatively combines biosignals/EEG with VR.
- Goal: Develop a practical and exciting solution that utilizes relevant processes and steps for neuroscientists, educators, or similar disciplines.
- Considerations: How to access and integrate the data, connect different devices, and synchronize various data streams. The use of AI is optional but can be incorporated if it adds value to the solution.
Challenge 2: Creation of an Educational VR Experience
- Objective: Develop a VR experience where users can interact with and test the application created in step 1.
- Additional Features: Implement an AI Agent and visualizations to explain and answer questions about the application. This should cover both the technical aspects of VR development and the scientific principles from the neuro/psychology fields.
The ultimate goal is to create useful applications while providing a clear understanding of both the theoretical and technical sides. By using an AI Agent and visualizations within the VR experience, participants will explain how the solution works, making it easier for others to replicate and understand the implementation.
